On September 27th, 2024, the tiny mountain town of Swannanoa, North Carolina was hit by a horrifying flood. Most of the town was destroyed by raging water. Homes, vehicles, businesses and even lives were lost. Today, progress has been made. Debris is being hauled off, homes are being rebuilt. It's going to be a very long recovery period. Tiny homes, campers and tents dot the neighborhoods where homes once stood. Families are dealing with freezing and hot, humid weather, trying to work and keep their kids in school. And the community has risen to the challenge. In the first days, when emergency aid, FEMA and other agencies couldn't get through, we helped each other. Supply hubs rose on street corners and in parking lots. Some of them still remain today. When there was no power or internet service, even cell lines were down for nearly two weeks, a few groups helped to hold us together. Bounty and Soul in Black Mountain, NC helped to provide fresh produce, eggs and bread to anyone that needed it. Valley Strong Disaster Relief, also in Black Mountain, provided non perishable food, cleaning supplies, generators and heaters. BeLoved Asheville in Asheville, NC has provided shelter, bringing in tiny homes and providing hotel rooms for those without shelter. Hearts With Hands provided meals and much more. Cayte Gowan is still providing hot meals, even during the snowstorm on a winter afternoon. Without all of these resources, many more people would not have made it. The extreme cold is one factor. No way to cook meals is another. They still need our help. This is where you and I come in. Come Hell Or High Water has become a Swannanoa anthem. Because come hell or high water, we'll make it through this. I'm proud to have created this exclusive soap in honor of those we've lost, those who are still struggling and those that have worked day and night to help us to survive. I chose blue for the waters that swept part of our town away, and green for the regrowth that is happening. The scent is "fern" which is a green, woodsy scent, again symbolizing that regrowth. The bars are 4 ounces and are $5.00 each. 100% of the income, yes income, not profit, will go to the relief efforts mentioned above and well as others in the area. Together, we can help to rebuild our community. Together, Come Hell Or High Water, we'll see it through. Quantity and wholesale discounts are available. Send me an email at debinnnc@yahoo.com
